Goodbye The Card Bin And That 90's Card Blog

After the current contest ends on here, this blog and That 90's Sport Card Blog will no longer exist. I am deleting them. All of my future focus will be solely on Sport Card Collectors. If you have not checked out that blog yet or started following it, please do so.

As for the posts, they are all on Sport Card Collectors now and I don't see the point of keeping open this blog or the 90's one when I never post on them. Not to mention, all of this content is on there and the content from that 90's as well. They are also being posted NEW the same as they were on here.

For contests, I will plan on other ideas for those. They WILL NOT be however on Sport Card Collectors as that is strictly now for only sport card posts. I want you coming there to read about sport cards and not just enter contests. I am currently working on a giveaway plan.

Thanks for your understanding and please remember to go check out Sport Card Collectors if you haven't yet and add them to your blog read list, follow them or sign up for email.

Breakin Wax: 1991-1992 Pro Set Hockey Series 2 Pack Break

What Pro Set was saying were the "Hottest Cards on Ice" I had to do a one pack break to see if I agreed.

In each pack of 1991-1992 Pro Set cards there were 15 cards per pack. The cards were borderless action shots with just their name and team logo placed on the lower left hand side.

The design I am a fan of. It gives just enough detail you need on the front without taking away from the action.

I soloed out this photo because to me it appears Greg hit a home-run if you look at the way he is holding the stick and the reaction on his and the crowds face. Kinda unique pic.

Best rookie card from the pack to me, Scott Neidermayer.

I found this break to be fun. Not because of the value, but because of the photographs. Just in this one pack alone there were some fun ones to view. I assume rest of the product is the same. If you haven't done so yet, check it out.

Box Toppers....SIGNED, unsealed and delivered!

I have met some amazing collectors on Twitter, one of those collectors is @shanesalmonson.

I have known him for awhile now (more than two years) on Twitter and we discuss a variety of hobby and non-hobby things. We may not see eye to eye on sports teams, but we are on the same team when it comes to the hobby.

Shane likes to share his famous case breaks on Twitter and during one of those breaks he had discussed some box toppers that he had and that they were Yankees. Upon further discussion, Shane said that I could have them to thank me for my support. Obviously I thought that was awesome. But, I didn't realize how awesome it was til the package arrived. It was MUCH MORE than I expected.

There were a ton of them and mixed in were a few surprises as I will show you below.

To kick this off, here are a couple of basketball ones.

These two are both numbered to 349 and printed on canvas material.

I think this guy has a bright future. I also like Panini's throwback to Donruss despite the lack of logos.

Some great players here such as Tony Gwynn, Chipper Jones and Banks.

I liked how this one was done. However, I would have liked actual stamps used on it. That would have been much more impressive.

JETER!

Here are the Yanks enjoying a World Series win! Feels like forever since they last won one!

Mr. October!

Mr.Super Bowl...well...I call him that. I am sure if I asked you guys you would just laugh. To me, he seems to always step his game up for the "Big Game".

Now I have pulled box toppers before, but I have NEVER pulled signed ones. These were a big surprise to find in my package from Shane. I really enjoyed these as they are unique additions to my collection.

My favorite of the group. This was the only one of the three signed on the front of the card. Also was the only one that was numbered. In case you can't see it, it's numbered 10/50.

My plan is to put all of these into sheet protectors along with their wrappers to be displayed in a binder. The autographed ones I may try to find toploaders for from BCW so they don't get ruined. You just never know sometimes.

A big thanks goes out to Shane for this mail day. If you are not following him on Twitter, please do so. You will be glad that you did. Especially when he starts sharing his football and baseball case breaks. They are fun to view.

CAPTION THIS! Upper Deck Cal Ripken Jr. Card!

Let's hear your best captions for this card:

Please keep it clean.

Breakin Wax: 1995 Topps Stadium Club Football Series 2, 3 Pack Break

Stadium Club. An amazing product that was a must have on my collecting list every year when it released.

The product always brought border-less action photography with beautiful colorful photos. One of my favorite designs from Stadium Club came in 1995. Thanks to my buddy Michael on Twitter, I was able to relive the product again and open three hobby jumbo packs.

In each pack of 1995 Topps Stadium Club Series 2 jumbo packs were 26 cards with roughly three foil cards. Two of those foil cards being Draft Pix and the other two solely dedicated to the Expansion teams Jacksonville and Carolina.

I pulled some of the best players of the 90's in these packs. I love the photographs that Topps used for the cards.

I also pulled a few for my Giants PC including HOFer Michael Strahan.

I posted this card for the sole purpose of the photograph. Can you imagine one, what in the world is he doing, two, the kind of captions we could come up with this??!! My first thought is why he isn't he turning green?

Expansion foil cards:

Draft Pix foil cards:

And one of my favorite players from that draft, "Slash" Kordell Stewart. That guy was amazing to watch and could play any position on the field.

Then in the third pack was a little boom. You could find Power Surges 1:12, MVP's that fell 1:9 or Ground Attack and my pull of Nightmares at 1:6. The one thing to remember is, these are Hobby jumbo odds. They are much tougher to pull in lesser packs.

But here it is, John Elway Nightmares. I know he caused a few teams some.
The pic doesn't serve this card justice. In person, it has a metallic look to it similar to Fleer Metal.

I was pretty excited about this break overall. The nostalgia, the great looking cards and the insert was enough for this blogger to feel well break-satisfied.

Unboxing A Collector Crate Silver Baseball

I have broken two forms of football crates, a gold and silver, now what I really wanted to do was break a baseball crate and I did so.

This baseball crate is a silver level break. It comes with:

10 Random Packs mid end packs.
2 Random Game Used Cards
2 Random Autographed Cards
Plus Random Rookies, Prospects, Stars, Inserts, Serial #ed, and Parallel Cards and/or Other Bonus Items!

My crate kicked off with these NY Yankee earphones. Before deciding on my crate I told them I liked the Yankees. They now make the Crates to fit the buyer the best they can.

OH BOY...90'S AWESOMENESS!

MORE 90'S SWEETNESS!

Now here come the packs. As for what I found within, you will have to wait til I show off the individual breaks this month.

Wonder if Mattingly was in here....

Or Jeter in here....

Love the look of this product.

Then after all of the packs there are still hits to be looked at! Here is what I found in my team bag:

HOLOGRAMS+KEN GRIFFEY JR = BIG SUCCESS!

Two autographs. I really like the new Yankee rookie add. I haven't seen 2014 Stadium Club up close yet.

Then my two memorabilia cards. One of my favorite Yankees in Soriano and what's up Doc Gooden bat card. Never understood why they used bat pieces for pitchers. Baseball swatches seems to make more sense to me.
Overall, I was pretty happy. A great variety of packs from 90's to today and a bonus 1984 pack.

I also like that they specified to my team with a couple of the hits and the earplugs.

If you haven't given Collector Crate a try yet, do so. You can find more information about them HERE on their site.
